That's an idiotic schedule, no wonder they have a hard time selling tickets. If you want to do a trip from Sharm to Luxor you need to leave at 18.00 (say on Sunday) spend a night in Hurghada, then drive to Luxor Monday morning, be back Monday evening to Hurghada to catch the 8 A.M Tuesday ferry.

I prefer Hurghada for diving although from Sharm you can get to the Thistlegorm.. Sharm seems to be rapidly polluting its reefs with all the nutrients from the gardens of the hotels its built (the run off goes directly into the reef below and the nutrients cause algae growth which strangles the coral which likes nutrient poor water) whereas Hurghada has most of its reefs as islands or outcrops
